"a home without books is a body without soul"

we want the walls of our home to be filled with books. lots and lots of books.

what an adorable/cleaver way to display kid books. those are ikea spice racks!

our book club meeting for the month was held at my house and the book on discussion: the hunger games! (if you haven't read them yet, read them!) i was so excited for the girls to come over and chat about the best book series ever, that i even had little parachute's with a gift attached to the bottom as favors... a little obsessed? maybe. we did manage to squeeze in time to choose the book for the month of june:
i've already seen the movie so i know the story line, but i am excited to read this book! i've heard very different opinions on it, so reading it and being able to form my own will be fun.

while i was at barnes and noble picking up a copy, i saw the section for 'employee picks' and was interested to see what books were selected. so... i got this.
the description on the book reads,
"a rousing adventure story in the tradition of the hunger games."
now, i haven't read it yet so i am hoping that it is as thrilling as i want it to be.

a gift for all occasions

these are my new obsession.
i had the idea to make these as mother's day gifts and ended up using one for a friends birthday as well. i realized how perfect they are for any occasion!

-i got the glass jars at hobby lobby (50% off!)

-the chalk labels were found here. (if you need chalk, she will send some with your order)

-for the inserts, i chose hand made soaps from Tallulah's Soap's on etsy.

i assembled them all and was very proud of how they turned out!
instead of using soap's, some other ideas are to fill the jars with-
candies...
or bath products such as: popery, bath salts or bath bombs.

i love that you can personalize it to your liking! pretty neat huh?

he put a ring on it... again.

One year down... Forever to go.
Collin and I got married on this day, one year ago.
It was a beautiful day, much like today.
We chose to have a simple ceremony with just family and a couple friends.
Up the canyon, with white flowers and white balloons.
BBQ food and kneaders deserts.
Bob Marley music and love in the air.
It was all we needed- Besides each other.
We exchanged bands that had the words "Love is all you need" engraved into Collins and "All you need is love" engraved into mine. I adored my ring, it was simple and sweet. But I lost it a couple months ago so I've been wearing a temporary one. I've never wanted a real diamond. I couldn't imagine loosing it or wearing something that has that much worth. So I've been waiting to find something that suits me.

A turquoise ring maybe?
A purple stone?
Saphire since its my birth stone?

I wanted a ring that was simple, inexpensive, but still looked like a wedding ring.
So... For our one year, Collin so sweetly gave me this.
Its absolutely perfect. Its a citrine stone which is a darker yellow on a simple yellow-gold band.
I am in love with it. Everything about it.

A couple of weeks before we found out I was pregnant, Collin had a dream about the movie Wall-E (if you haven't seen the movie, watch it! It will melt your heart)

He was Wall-E and I was Eva (his love interest). We were in a factory, him on one side of the assembly line and me on the other. We were putting together parts to make... a baby! A robot baby to be exact. So finding out I was pregnant just a couple weeks later was really cool. Its been that cute "remember that?" story we think about every now and then.

So for our anniversary I had my friend (who is an amazing/talented artist!) draw this picture for Collin.

Kinda perfect isn't it? I love baby Jude robot.
I cant wait to frame and hang it in our home.

Collin, a very happy one year anniversary to you. It has been filled with lots of joy and lots of love. I cant wait for the many, many more to come!
Your the greatest husband, father and best friend I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Im so glad I get to call you mine. Love- Me.

and all the ladies wore... chanel.

the chanel resort 2012 presentation brought in some super chic attire.

a belated mothers day post

I have to say, being 'Jude's Mom' has been my favorite role I've played in my life so far (Obviously being 'Collin's wife' is right up there with it) I couldn't imagine living life without Jude being the center of it. He brightens my world, lifts my spirits, and softens my heart on a day to day basis. He reminds me that there is purity in the world every time I see his smile or hear his laugh. The immensity of the love I feel for him consumes me and makes me a stronger person but entirely weak at the same time.

Jude, thank you for giving me the opportunity of having my first Mothers Day and being the sweet soul you are. I love you, always will.

I also wanted to wish my mom and mother in law a Happy Mother's Day as well!
Craig and Elaine Huish
Mark and Michelle Lye
(I ADORE these vintage pictures of them!)
Because of these two wonderful woman, me and Collin turned into the people we are today and for that, we are very grateful, honored and blessed.

We were pretty excited about the gifts we got our mothers this year! Since Jude's birth stone is opal, I found this set at JC Penny. My mom got the earrings and Collins mom got the necklace, to always remember there little love bug.

A very happy Mother's Day to all the lovely mommas out there!
