lazy day
today we get to just enjoy the day. we are heading to thanksgiving point with our friends, the hill's, for a pool/slumber party with the kiddo's. with board games, water fights, hot cocoa & a movie on the menu, it seems like tonight's going to be a pretty good one. oh! and we are cooking up the best shrimp scampi in town. yup, tonight's going to be a good one alright.

here's to
here's to having three days off with the papa & baby bear.
here's to spending the morning dancing around to the music of john butler.
here's to having a house that we have made our very own home.
here's to those moments that you lock away and save in a special place.
here's to our family, love & the blessing we have so fortunately been given.

diy {holiday decor part lll}
diy project:
felt & jingle bell garland
what you'll need:
felt balls (of any color), bells, needle & thread.
(all products can be bought at hobby lobby, robert's or michael's)
what you'll do:
just string the felt balls & bells through the thread to the desired length. that's all there is too it!
(instead of one felt ball, one bell.. you could do three balls and then a bell. it would make it a little lighter when your trying to hang it up. i broke my first attempt because i only used one string. with the next attempt i used three strings, just an fyi!)
happy diy-ing!

diy project: martha stewart's magazine christmas tree
what you'll need:
magazine's & glitter spray paint...yup, thats it!
once again, i found the glitter paint at hobby lobby. and if you take one of these in, you'll get 40% off any one item you choose, even if its the most expensive one! (its valid through december 10th, so hurry!)
the how too:
- open the magazine and break the spine
- fold each page from the top right corner to the inside seam. with the same page, fold the bottom right edge to the gutter.
- now fold the bottom triangle of every page up, making the bottom of the tree flat.
- then fold the top of all the pages down to form the tree shape.
- spary your christmas tree with any color desired.
here is a video so you can get a better idea of how its done:
genius right? i'm kind of in love with them...
...and my little helper :)

seasonal books
i feel that there are certain books that are approppriate for the different seasons. for instance, into the wild is saved for summers, while the hunger games i like to read during fall. since its winter, i decided to compile a seasonal reading list that i will try and read every holiday season. wurthering heights is up first.
also on my list: the great gatsby, a christmas carol, and holiday romance.
do you save books for certain season? which book for which season?
do you save books for certain season? which book for which season?
i would love to know. finding a new book to read is one of my favorite feelings.

diy {holiday decor part l}
remember this post? well, this project is pretty much the exact same thing.. the only difference is instead of valentines day, we are decorating for christmas! i've gotten all of the supplies i need for my holiday projects at hobby lobby... that's where its at peeps!
for our next book club meeting, we decided to invite the husbands and make it a christmas party as well as a book club session. so... we need holiday decorations!
with the help of two little munchkins, we made these awesome sequined christmas trees. really easy (just follow the instructions of the sequined heart) and super adorable! right?
